Mgmagain's daughter part 1

It was such a usual morning for everyone, the father leaving for his work at 5am, Christina, Anei's mother, doing her vocal warm-ups at 8am, getting ready for the recording of the day, as she was a famous recording-artist. Anei herself had inherited her mother's strong voice, but didn't really ever use it, at least not anywhere public. Sometimes she did though sing by herself in her room, and she did enjoy it too.

Today wasn't about singing though, it was more about going to the new school, and trying desperately to fit in. And it wasn't just another school, it was the one where all the rich kids went to, for example Flame and Janet Njerde's oldest daughter Maj. Janet was Anei's big sister. And Anei had a huge crush on Maj. She also had a pretty bad anxiety, and was nervous as ever, combing her long black hair in front of the mirror in her dressing-room.

There was a knock on the door. She went to open the door, and there was Jonathan, one of the two drivers of the family.

-Good morning, miss Anei! How are you doing today? We're supposed to get moving in ten minutes time.

-Morning, Johnnie, I'm ready to go.

-Fantastic!

And they walked over to the car that Jonathan had previously driven out of the garage to the drive-way. It was autumn, and yellow and red leaves were falling from the huge maple-trees on the yard. A soft, slightly chilly breeze blew Anei's hair as she stepped into the car next to Jonathan. Johnnie was in a talkative mood, as usual, and Anei was not.

-So, what are the plans for today? Excited about going to the new school? A little nervous maybe?

-Yeah, I'm nervous allright, and I don't feel like chatting now. Sorry.

-No need to apologize, miss, it's all cool!

-Thanks, Johnnie.

When arriving to the school-yard, Anei was no longer sure if she was able to get out of the car -as there were beautiful, confident and seemingly very popular young people everywhere, and she felt like she'd never fit in. But this was what she'd wanted -to change schools, after a very unfortunate incident in the previous one that she went to, where she'd behaved violently towards another student, a girl that had been bullying her for several years.

And Anei had received training for that, attacking people, so she'd harmed the other girl quite severely. Father had been disappointed about it, and Anei had wished that he'd rather yelled at her, as his quiet disappointment felt very bad in her heart. But her father wasn't like that -he didn't ever have to raise his voice to anyone, as people respected him greatly, and for a good reason.

-Okay, I'm going. Bye, Johnnie!

Jonathan replied with a wave, and there she was, by herself, in that growd of chatting, laughing and happy people. Confident people, and that was something she herself was not.

And then she spotted her -Maj, as the bright autumn sunlight glittered on her ginger hair, she walked like a model and behaved like a movie-star in a big group of friends, who obviously saw her in the same way. She didn't see Anei, who was standing there awkwardly in her skinny-fit jeans and black leather jacket. The jacket wasn't genuine leather though, as Anei loved all animals.

School started. The bell rang, and everyone ran inside to get to their glassrooms. Anei realized that she had no idea where she should be and when. She noticed the school secretary's office, and knocked on the door. It was opened by a lady in her black formal dress, and the lady looked at Anei, as if measuring her from head to toe.

-I see, you must be the Mcmagain's daughter, right?

Anei nodded silently.

-Well, do come in, darling! Care for tea or something?

-Coffee please.

-Uhm, we don't really encourage our students to consume caffeinated beverages. But since you're new here, I might make an exception.

She started making coffee, while still talking.

-We're very happy to have you here! Your father is a well-respected member of the society, so this is more like an honour to us really. To have Eifel Mcmagain's daughter in our school.

Anei was starting to feel a little uncomfortable because of the hype. She mumbled:

-I'm not my father.

The lady turned around swiftly.

-What's that?

-Nothing. I just said it's nice to be here.

-Oh, really? I'm so glad you think so!
